This report highlights the key achievements of the Safeguarding Donkeys in Turkana Initiative (SDTI) in 2025, showcasing the progress made in improving donkey welfare, strengthening community awareness, and combating donkey slaughter, abuse, and theft. It captures the initiative’s efforts to enhance access to animal health services, promote responsible donkey ownership, strengthen community engagement, and leverage technology in reporting, tracking, and recovering stolen donkeys. Through collaboration with communities, government agencies, security actors, and development partners, SDTI continued to champion the protection of donkeys and recognize their vital contribution to the livelihoods and economic resilience of pastoral communities in Turkana County.
