Vaccination, deworming and treatment of working and herded animals, delivered by trained community animal health workers.
Animals are the foundation of life for pastoralist families in Turkana. Donkeys carry water and goods, goats and camels provide milk and income, and a sick animal can quickly become a family emergency.
IPDR works with trained community animal health workers and partners such as Brooke East Africa to bring vaccination, deworming, wound care and treatment to herders where they live, and to teach owners how to keep their animals healthy and well cared for.
What we do:
- Community-based clinics and outreach days
- Vaccination and deworming campaigns
- Welfare education for animal owners
- Training and support for community animal health workers
